A CELEBRATION OF NIGERIAN CUISINE
Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has embarked on an ambitious journey to break the Guinness World Record for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice. This attempt is not just about cooking; it’s a celebration of Nigerian culture, community spirit, and national pride.
Hilda Baci is cooking 250 bags of rice, approximately 5,278 kg of basmati rice, in a custom-built pot measuring six meters wide and six meters high. The pot’s capacity is 22,619 liters, and the goal is to fill it to 75-80% capacity, producing a jollof rice meal large enough to serve thousands.
The event is tagged “20,000 Mouths, One Dream,” has drawn over 20,000 registered spectators to witness this spectacle at Eko Hotel in Lagos. The atmosphere is electric, with food lovers, entertainers, and cultural enthusiasts turning the cookathon into a carnival. The Guinness World Records has acknowledged the attempt, wishing Hilda Baci and her team “best of luck”.
